Wow, what an amazing week we had! From the final rehearsals at Comberton Village Hall, on Sunday 24th May, through technical meetings and planning with Donovan (the fantastic theatre technician from Cambridge Junction who worked on our show), to the first day we had everyone at the theatre for our first run through in costume on Friday, to the two fabulous performances on Saturday and Sunday. The result was a lot of tired but very happy children, parents, and dance teachers!
After a year of work to plan this show, budget it, choreograph and teach the dances, plan rehearsals, source and fit the costumes, sort out music and lighting, find a backstage team of chaperones and parents, obtain a performance license from Cambridgeshire Council, along with all the admin and financial work surrounding all of that – we experienced a fantastic show at Cambridge Junction (J2) last weekend, and I feel I cannot adequately express my gratitude to everyone involved. We all came together to create a quite magical experience for the children.
Some of the comments received in the day or two after the show:
“I enjoyed the dance show so much on Saturday night I went to the Sunday show too. The variety of music, costumes and lighting effects all enhanced the choreography to create a lovely dance spectacular.” – from a grandmother of one of our pupils
“A fantastic show. The children demonstrated so much confidence on the stage. And the costumes were fabulous. Looking forward to 2028” – from a grandfather of a pupil
“I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Bourn to Dance show – the standard of Oonagh’s teaching was clear to see across all of the pupils, as well as their joy and love for dance!”
